Cancer survivors need ongoing support, especially from fellow survivors. STSA promotes this by bringing cancer patients together, on a weekly basis, to sing and have fun together. There is evidence that music is beneficial and therapeutic for cancer patients.
A cancer survivor may join STSA as an individual in one of the existing Centres, or as part of a new local group. Setting up a new STSA centre requires two or more cancer survivors, a music director (a person competent to teach the songs to the group), a room in which to meet weekly, and access to the internet, so that the musical works-in-progress can be downloaded.
Members of Something To Sing About are having fun every week rehearsing a common repertoire of songs (as well as anything else that takes their fancy!). STSA members come together to give public performances and release music recordings. STSA is a not-for-profit organisation, with all proceeds going to support cancer patients and research.
